Product Review: Biotherm Biocils Eye Makeup Remover

This is a re-post from two years ago. This is still, by far, my favourite eye makeup remover. The sad part is that you can't buy Biotherm in the US. So sad :( I guess I will have to get someone to mail me a care package from home!

As I mentioned in my last review, I like a really hardcore eyemakeup remover! And this stuff is my holy grail!

From the Biotherm website:

• This gentle, fluid, two-phased formula quickly dissolves waterproof makeup while gently cleansing eye contour without leaving an oily film. Waterproof and non-greasy, suitable for senstitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

The above says it all, and aside fom not being able to vouch for the part about contact lenses since I don't wear them, I find their claims to be 100% accurate. I LOVE this stuff. It removes my most stubborn waterproof eyemakeup with very little rubbing and leaves my skin feeling soft. It doesn't leave a really oily film on my eyeballs like some other two-phase or oil based makeup removers. For $27.00 CAN for 125mL, I find this to be a reasonable price as it lasts a very long time since I don't need to use a lot. I always stock up when Biotherm has one of their great bonuses!

Product Review: Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser

I have been using Paula's Choice products for about two years now and I can't say enough about most of the sin care I have tried from her line. This cleanser is no exception.

The cleanser truly is soothing. My skin is often dry and irritated and this cleanser leaves it feeling soft with no tight, dry feeling after washing. It is definitely gentle enough around the eyes and will take off most eyemakeup as long as it's not waterproof or smudgeproof. I still rely on my Biotherm eyemakeup remover for that. I also love that it foams up. I really don't like the feeling of cream cleansers. I never really feel like it's done the job of taking off all of my makeup. As for reducing the look of large pores. Other than a physical pore filler, nothing has ever done anything to reduce the look of my pores unfortunately!

As a cleanser, this is at the TOP of my list and I will definitely buy it again as well as recommend it to anyone with any skin type, especially combination.

Product Review: Biodroga Cleansing Fluid for Impure Skin

Several months ago I went to HydeAway Spa in Mississauga, ON for a facial. They use Biodroga products and I came home with about $500 worth of product. Ouch. So is this European brand worth the price? I have been using these products this whole time and thought that is plenty of time go give a fair review.

This is a gentle cleanser with a fairly watery consistency. It is geared towards combination skin. One thing I like about cleansers is a nice lather. This does not give that. When I got this cleanser I didn't have my Clarisonic cleansing brush yet. When I use just my hands with this cleanser, I can't get all of my makeup off (even foundation, I use eye makeup remover for my eyes). However when I do use my Clarisonic, it gets my makeup off quite nicely and leaves my skin clean, but not tight. It has a funny taste - and don't tell me you don't get a bit in your mouth when you're washing your face!

So is this worth the $50 price tag? Unfortunately not. I have used many drug store cleansers that I like much better than this one.

Clarisonic Cleansing Brush Review

I received the Clarisonic Cleansing Brush as a gift for Christmas and have been using it ever since. I only use it at night as I like to use an AHA cream or a physical exfoliator in the morning and don't want to irritate my skin.

I use eye makeup remover as normal, then take my cleanser and rub a little bit all over my face, then I dampen the Clarisonic and turn it on. It has two settings for time, one minute or two minute. The one minute is long enough for me, so it runs 20 seconds on the forehead, 20 seconds for the chin, and 10 seconds for each cheek, beeping in between so you know when to switch.

My skin is very dry and flakey with an acne prone t-zone. This thing is *amazing*. The flakey's are buffed away leaving healthier skin, and my chin has never been clearer! When I use my toner after, there is not a trace of makeup left!! I can rarely find a gentle cleanser that will do that with using hands alone. I have used a foaming cleanser, a cream cleanser, and MAC's Cleanse-Off Oil, and all with fabulous results and a very clean face.

It is expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion and I highly recommend it to anyone!
